As Twitter keeps growing like crazy, smart carriers are embracing the wave. Hence, we have Japan’s Softbank launching MOBILE WIDGET and S! Appli for users to enjoy Twitter on their mobile phone.

Twitter Widget by Twitter will come pre-installed on the carrier’s handsets that will be released as part of the Summer 2010 Collection. Also, “TweetMe for S! Appli”, S! Appli for TweetMe, and MOBILE WIDGET such as “twinavi” which helps search and follow celebrities’ tweets will be available.

Additionally, Softbank will (or that’s already live) launch a website called “Twitter Omatome Site” from where all of the mentioned apps will be/are available for download. New models for summer 2010, will have this site added to the browser’s bookmarks.

In a conclusion, it’s good to see smart companies singing along (as opposed to refusing the existence) of modern services, offering their customers what they want. Hopefully, mobile operators from other parts of the world will join the trend as well, and soon enough we’ll have virtually every mobile phone coming with social networking apps pre-installed, whether a handset is sold through carrier or as an unlocked device.
