Well whataya know. This weekend TELUS launched their iPad data plan, and it left me wondering… ‘is there no limit on how much data one can download?’. The plan was/is set at 500MB for $20 per month, with any overages billed at 5 cents per megabyte… up to a maximum of $50 per month. No details on a cap were mentioned at all, and I thought that was a bit fishy.
Sure enough, today I notice that TELUS has silently updated their iPad page to include some data cap information. Looks like any iPad users signing up for TELUS’ service will face a 5 GB per month limit. Nuts.
In the end, what this means is ‘unlimited’ data from TELUS is not going to happen… even worse, you’ll pay MORE with with the big ‘T’ for 5 GB of monthly data than any other Canadian carrier. On Rogers and Bell you can get 5GB for $35 per month, a savings of $15 in comparison.
