Those of you who have caught some of the samples from the iPhone 4’s 5 megapixel camera at the WWDC announcement might want a closer look. Well, this batch of the supposed undoctored originals have surfaced, and they’re right here for your discriminating eye. Take a look for yourself at the full size pictures and you can see that Steve wasn’t foolin’ about the quality. Personally, I’d like to see a sample of the 720p HD video as well, especially considering the editing capabilities of iMovie built in, and how well this camera quality translates to FaceTime video calling is another consideration.
Still, this is an excellent demonstration of the camera, and will likely impress most amateur photographers. The iPhone 4 is also Apple’s first phone with a flash for the camera, making it equally suited for low-light shots. Looking at these pictures side-by-side with some of those I took with the Sony Ericsson X10’s 8 megapixel camera proves to me that megapixel count isn’t the end-all be-all of a good camera in a phone. What do y’all think?
