If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the Bell HTC Legend, your wait may almost be over… But you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer while Bell’s ‘little brother’ Virgin Mobile goes ahead with an HTC Legend launch. MobileSyrup has gone on the record, noting the Virgin Mobile HTC Legend should be available today (June 11th). After a quick check of their website, the Legend is nowhere to be found, but it could be that the devices are available in-store only at this point. We also know that Bell will follow things up with their own launch on June 16th. Call this strange if you want, but this is not the first time something like this has happened.
You may recall a little while back that Virgin Mobile launched the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (9100) a few days ahead of big bro Bell. Perhaps there’s something to this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this again with new devices in the coming months.
Getting back to the Legend, it features aluminum unibody construction (nice), Android 2.1, Sense UI, optical trackpad, 3.2 capacitive AMOLED display (320×480), 5 megapixel camera with video, 3.5 mm headset jack, 600Mhz Qualcomm processor, 3G, WiFi, GPS and expansion to 32GB via microSD. A nice, tidy feature set for sure… and for anyone out there looking to upgrade from the Hero… Well, yeah, this is a nice update for sure (especially the jump to Android 2.1).
Pricing you say? Look for the Virgin Mobile HTC Legend priced at $79.99 on a 3-year contract, or $349.99 off-contract. Very reasonable pricing for sure, and as a fan of the HTC Hero, I really can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
While the HTC Legend hasn’t shown up on the Virgin Mobile Canada website just yet, look for it to arrive real soon. I’ll keep my eyes and ears open for it.
