This is just a quick-ish update for those that follow the goings on of WIND Mobile in Canada. You may recall WIND going live with the Nokia 5230 way back in April. Back then, the device was launched in white livery only. Well, the S60 5th edition-packing device must be doing well WIND, as they’ve just announced (and released) the 5230 in a new color: Black.
If you’ve forgotten what the Nokia 5230 is all about, it packs a 3.2″ touchscreen display with a full touch QWERTY. The display resolution is 640×360, and it comes with 70 MB of internal memory. Other key features include:
- S60 5th Edition OS
- Bluetooth
- 2 megapixel camera
- weight: 113 grams
- 1320mAh battery, good for 4.5 hours of talk time and 458 hours of standby
- GPS/A-GPS
- microSD expansion up to 16B
Sadly there’s no WiFi on-board. Granted, I’m not much of a Nokia guy, but with no WiFi on-board… Well, that’s pretty much a deal breaker for me. Don’t let that deter you though. If WiFi access from your handset isn’t a big deal to you… this one could be very much work a look!
In the box you’ll find not only the handset and your battery (duh!), but a wall charger, 2 GB microSD card, wired headset, data cable and user guide will be in there too. Pretty standard fare for sure, but it’s always fun to check out the extra goodies that come with any new device. In fact, almost every time a new device arrives at my door, I’ll take a quick look at the handset, and then set it down to rummage through the extras for a few good minutes. I like to know what else I have to play with before I charge up and get goin’. 🙂
Nothing too crazy here for sure, but if you do want to pick up a 5230 from WIND, you’re going to have your choice of black or white. For more information or to pick up a Nokia 5230 for $180, pop over to WIND.
