U.S. Cellular deploys Zed’s mobile entertainment content solution to enhance its Tone Room Deluxe Storefront

U.S. Cellular is deploying Zed’s Master Content Service Provider (MCSP) solution to centralize the way mobile entertainment content (ringtones and ringbacks) are merchandized, marketed, programmed and distributed whether accessed through the web or mobile phone.

Here’s what it means for the end users – they will be able to assign ringback tones to both individuals and groups within their contacts list. Moreover, U.S. Cellular subscribers will have the option to buy a la carte products or purchase a monthly subscription for the ringback and ringtone service that gives them two tones per month as well as discounts on additional content purchases.

As a not too big fan of ringtones and ringbacks, I’m not too excited about the news — needless to say I’m not an U.S. Cellular customer. However, I know many people who like the idea and in that sense I’ve no doubts this kind of a service can fly among mobile users.

For the record, Zed has already delivered this solution to more than 32 operators around the world, so I guess they (and U.S. Cellular for that matter) know their stuff.

And you can access the new Tone Room Deluxe Storefront from here.
