We know that HTC has no intentions of letting Motorola and Samsung come out with great devices without a fight. Sure, the EVO 4G is a great device, but what’s in store for us from HTC? According to some new rumors, we’re starting to see some specs of the HTC Ace starting to come out of the shadows.
The Ace reads like a dream, let’s hope the final device will retain most of these specs.
- Android 3.0
- 4.3 in. display (With HTC’s new Super AMOLED display rival)
- 1.5 GHz processor
- 8 MP camera and 1.3 MP front facing camera
- Much better battery
- 1080p HD recording
Nothing too far-fetched, but the 1080p HD recording sounds a little too good to be true when we’re just getting 720p recording capabilities. Either way, I think HTC could certainly deliver a device like this before the end of the year. But with what HTC has come out and said about Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) availability, we may have to wait until next year.
The one thing I actually hope will be missing from this device is Sense. The sexy UI has done nothing but slowed every single HTC device that sports the skin down, as far as Android OS updates are concerned. Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) will supposedly hold its own against custom skins, meaning we might see Sense left on the cutting room floor this time around. A 1.5GHz processor doesn’t sound unlikely, either. With rumors of 2GHz Android phones floating around, scaling it back to 1.5GHz make it more believable, and well, it is.
The Ace is said to be the GSM version of the EVO, and when you put the Ace’s spec next to the EVO’s, they don’t differ much. The recording capabilities, processor, and display type are the only differentiators, and while a nice upgrade, isn’t anything revolutionary. The specs are similar to the rumored Sabor, which supposedly is the EVO 2 for Sprint. So if any of these rumors turn out to be true, the HTC could be a suped up GSM version of the EVO.
Any of these rumors believable to you?
