Unwired View caught more Symbian^4 screenshots from Symbian Developer Wiki and we are glad to show them to you, too. What you’re about see won’t be available in any device sold this year. As we know, the first Symbian^4 phones are set to hit the market at some point next year. In the meantime, we’ll have to settle with Symbian^3 which is the OS of choice used for the Nokia N8.
The question on everyone’s mind is whether this is “good enough” to face the rising competition from Android. As far as I can tell, the UI looks good but since it won’t be available till 2011, I’m not that confident users will love it once it’s released.
Anssi Vanjoki, who is the new man in charge of the mobile devices at Nokia, promised a tough fight to get the Finnish giant back at the top of the smartphone world, which should be a good news for everyone. Adding NFC to the mix may help a bit, but that’s only a part of the equation.
We certainly want to see Nokia rising back to its glory days and offer us the best devices once again. At the same time, other platforms will also keep advancing, ultimately offering the best bang for the buck for consumers.
And now the screenshots. Enjoy.
