Motorola certainly isn’t wasting any time on its latest Android handset. The Droid X launched last Thursday and software updates may already be on their way. Of course, word is that this very same update was already released the day before the device officially launched, and now your Droid X might be in for the same treatment. While it’s not a major Android operating system upgrade, it certainly seems to promise a lot of fixes.
Most of the items listed in the update seem to be geared toward making the Droid X more streamlined and efficient (as the words so often appear in the fix), so perhaps that’s what you can expect if or when version 1.13.604.en.US hits your Android smartphone:
- Improved battery charging status indicator.
- Smoother transition for camera and camcorder functions.
- Redesign of weather widget icons.
- Faster Exchange ActiveSync® email loading.
- Streamlined organization of newly downloaded applications.
- Organized favorite contacts by call count.
- Updated Bluetooth® connection for enhanced video sharing experience.
- Coordinated date and time across phone displays.
- Cleaner looking status bar for GPS symbol.
- Improved sync capabilities for 3G Mobile Hotspot.
- Faster Visual Voice Mail loading.
There’s no guarantee your handset will receive the update today, but the update itself is definitely going to hit your smartphone as delineated by Verizon in the sheet above. Perhaps the new updates might make up for our few software gripes that we denoted in our hands-on review. While some issues were rather minor, they do affect the overall experience of the device. If the update starts appearing on your device today, feel free to let us know in the comments and offer up some tips to your fellow Droid X and Android users.
