Here’s one for our readers from New Zealand. ViewRanger GPS made a deal with the New Zealand national mapping agency – LINZ to include New Zealand topographic maps to the popular mobile navigation product.
The new 1:50K maps can be purchased for all three mobile platforms on which ViewRanger GPS operates – including the iPhone, Android and Symbian either via ViewRanger’s web store or the manufacturer app stores.
As you may know, ViewRanger GPS allows the smartphone to be used as a reliable and precise outdoors GPS navigator. The application can be used even when there is no mobile coverage around, as the maps are cached onto the handset.
All manner of outdoor recreational activities are supported, including those on land, air, or water. Moreover, there’s also a sports computer on board to allow users to record their performance metrics.
