HTC EVO 4G Graces Sprint Online Stores Again Next Week

The elusive HTC EVO 4G is finally making its return to the Sprint online store next week. Trying to grab the Android smartphone, which managed to pick up the Android 2.2 or Froyo update during its mostly physical absence, has been like trying to catch Bigfoot. The EVO 4G has been sold out almost everywhere since launch and it has only been available in limited numbers in Sprint retail stores and Best Buy locations.

While the HTC EVO 4G will be hitting the Sprint online store again soon, the carrier says that it will still be available only in limited quantities. Sprint initially pulled the EVO 4G from its online store after realizing the demand for sales in store were higher than expected. Since then, most customers have been having difficulty getting the device as it has been selling almost as soon as it gets in.

To date, there is no word of just how many units have sold, Sprint has apparently finally gained subscribers instead of losing them thanks to the EVO.

So, if you’ve been having trouble getting the EVO 4G at a brick and mortar store, you might want to try your luck online. From what I’ve been hearing, and in my own personal experience, Sprint store retail representatives have been telling customers trying to upgrade that the HTC EVO 4G is sold out – holding the devices that were really in the store for customers who were signing new contracts or porting over from other carriers. (I switched from Verizon, but I had to mention that before the Sprint rep suddenly said, “You know what? I think I actually do have a few more units left…”)

Have you been holding out or Sprint’s WiMax capable handset for weeks now? Looking to nab one from the online store next week? Check out our full review of the device here so you’ll know what you’re in for.
