Bing arrives for Android users on the Verizon Wireless network today, so if you’re an avid Bing user there is plenty to get excited about. You can hop on over to the Android Marketplace to grab the Bing app and get to searching with the feature-rich application as a bunch of nifty features have been included. The image search is labeled as endless and there is also a voice search feature for your convenience when you don’t feel like typing.
Another feature that is said to work well within the app is the maps option. According to Bing Community:
The Android app also has a pretty smooth mapping feature. First, Bing will automatically find your current location. You can then easily discover new places by category such as restaurants, banks, theaters and you can choose whether you want walking or driving directions. Swipe through each step of your directions, and check out how fast the map pans and zooms. For times when you only have one hand free and can’t pinch, there is the handy zoom-out button.
Not a bad option if you find yourself loathing Google Maps for Android for some reason. Additional features and perks of the app are:
- Bing Daily Homepage Image: A streamlined homepage design that features the Bing daily image with hot spots.
- Map Your Way: Quickly access maps, driving directions and traffic information so you can find where you are and get where you are going. It also includes an auto-locate feature to show your current location. People can also search local business listing near them from the map.
- Favorites: Find a business listing you like? Save it in ‘Favorites’ so you can retrieve them and chart them on a map when needed.
- Instant Answers: Quick and relevant answers for movies, stocks quotes, flight status and local business listing without hopping to multiple links.
If this has piqued your interest, you can go ahead and grab the app from the Android Marketplace now. But don’t forget, this new app has been announced for Verizon only.
