AT&T Announces Three Android Handsets: Motorola Bravo, Flipout, and Flipside

CTIA is starting today, and to kick it off, AT&T has announced three Android phones from Motorola: the Bravo, Flipout, and Flipside. They all have the Motoblur custom user interface built on top of Android 2.1,  and as far as hardware goes, they all sit comfortably in the mid-to-low range.

The Motorola Bravo is the highest-end of the three, going for $129.99 on a two-year contract.  It has a 3.7″ 480 x 854 touchscreen, 800 MHz processor, 3 megapixel with autofocus and flash, Wi-Fi with DLNA connectivity. More details on the Bravo and and e-mail notifications are over here.

The Motorola Flipout is the more basic model, and will be going for $79.99 on a two-year contract with AT&T. It’s got a 2.8″ QVGA touch display, 720 MHz processor, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, and an interesting (if uncomfortable) swivelling form factor. There was some noise about AT&T not offering the Flipout, but they eventually promised that it would be available in time for the holidays, and sure enough, this announcement nails down an October 17 release date. More info from AT&T is over here, or you can check out our review of the Motorola Flipout here.

Lastly, there’s the Motorola Flipside, which sits somewhere between the two, which will be sold for $99.99 on a two-year AT&T contract. It’s a slider with a 3.1″ HVGA touchscreen,  full Exchange support, and a large trackpad. More info on the Flipside over here.

Overall, that’s quite the bundle AT&T and Motorola are squirting out into the world. No dates on the Bravo or Flipside just yet, but odds are good that they’ll get them out before the holidays. Motoblur might be a dealbreaker for some people who have had bad experiences with it, and though it doesn’t quite compete with HTC’s Sense, Motoblur wasn’t that much of a hassle in my time with the customized UI.
