London-based Geomium is joining the ever-competitive mobile location-based social networking market with its own iPhone app, allowing users to access tons of local content while on the go.
Here’s the Geomium pitch (from their press release):
Geomium is a true socializing tool. Whilst existing apps may call themselves social, only Geomium is designed for people who want to leave their house and go do something fun. Geomium is created to literally take everyone out, show great local venues and discover money saving deals, while letting everyone have a good time…
Geomium revamps the notion of a classic social network. From now on social networking is getting even more social than ever. Instead of sitting at home on a traditional social network, with Geomium users are able to check out the hot new band playing down the street or meet that cute single at the local bar.
In terms of the content included, there are more than 4 million events, 5 millions reviews and 100,000 discount vouchers. The application tells users where their friends are as well as new people in the area, while at the same time letting everyone share public recommendations and “what’s happenings” with location-based “Shouts” and private internal messaging.
Geomium is available as a free download and in addition to the native iPhone app; it can also be accessed from a web browser at geomium.com.
