If you’ve ever wanted to combine the touchscreen goodness of the iPad with the can’t be beat feel of a full tactile keyboard, Crux may have just the thing you’ve been looking for. Dubbed the Crux360, this new clamshell-keyboard case for your iPad will have your friends and colleagues doing a double-take. It instantly turns your magical device into what looks to be a netbook, with full keyboard in-tow.
The case itself is quite brilliant. It works in four modes. The first is a laptop mode, allowing you quickly turn your iPad into a laptop/netbook. Work away on those emails with ease on the full-sized bluetooth keyboard.
When in ‘movie’ mode, you can watch videos on the generous display without the keyboard getting in the way. The case allows you to twist the screen a full 360 degrees so that the keyboard is hidden.
The ‘tablet’ mode lets you flip the screen so that it lays flat against the keyboard, allowing you to use the iPad as it was intended… as a touchscreen tablet.
Finally, the ‘carry’ mode lets you close the screen with all of the internal components protected. When all sealed up in this orientation, your iPad and bluetooth keyboard are safe and sound within… ideal for transport.
Naturally, for a case with as many features as the Crux360, you’d expect to pay a premium price… and somewhat unfortunately, that’s what you’re looking at here. Expect to shell out a cool $149 for this one. All things consider, the price ain’t bad… and quite honestly, I’m intrigued. I’ve often wondered how much more I would use my iPad if I had a bluetooth keyboard as part of the deal… Oh, wait… I have one around here somewhere… I best be giving that a try!
