The Motorola Droid 2 Global was released just yesterday, and now we have a pretty nice video ad showcasing some of its great features. The Droid 2 Global is essentially just regular Droid 2, only with a beefier CPU and global roaming capabilities (it has a SIM card for international roaming). Still, that may be just enough to grab the thing for some.
What could be better way to start the ad than with some electronic music? While we doubt the background music will find its way onto the Tron soundtrack from Daft Punk, the beat is catchy and gets in your head immediately, sucking you in. Where the ad might lose you is when you actually see the handset, as it looks identical to its CDMA-only companion. When showcasing the 1.2 GHz CPU – a smartphone first – the Droid 2 Global shows off its innards. Although, that was all just CG.
Nonetheless, the Motorola Droid 2 Global should definitely appeal to those who want a powerful phone on the Verizon network that they can bring with them overseas – something Big Red has needed for a while (and no, the Storm doesn’t count – we said “powerful,” remember?). This particular handset may appeal to some users just because of the color options, which are white and blue, but it really shouldn’t be the determining factor on your handset purchase.
If the extra speed, which isn’t actually all that much extra, isn’t much of a big deal to you, nor is the multiple color options, go for the original Motorola Droid 2. If color, and the smaller speed boost is something of importance, and obviously having the option to bring the handset to another country, then the Droid 2 Global may be right up your alley.
So what say you, reader? Does the Droid 2 Global have what it takes to make you pay Verizon some big bucks and two years of your life?
