Windows Phone 7 comes to Radio Shack

Radio Shack is backing Windows Phone 7 by offering three new smartphones at many of its nationwide retail stores.

“Windows Phone 7 is extremely intuitive and user-friendly, allowing people to use their smartphones more efficiently and bring together the things they care about most,” said Daniel Liberman, senior vice president of mobility for RadioShack, in a prepared statement. “By introducing three devices equipped with Windows Phone 7, The Shack continues to expand our assortment, providing customers with a leading-edge selection of devices, carriers and world-class mobile operating systems.

Radio Shack will be offerings the Samsung Focus, LG Quantum and the HTC HD7. The HD7 is available for T-Mobile and the two other Windows Phone 7 handsets use AT&T for service.

The Samsung Focus will cost $199.99 with a new contract, the Quantum will be $179.99 and the HD7 will be $199.99. Like with Best Buy, Radio Shack offers these phones with instant rebates, which is all types of cool and convenient.

So, which Windows Phone 7 device should you get from the Shack? It depends on what you’re looking for, as all three devices are similar in that each has a 1 GHz processor and a beefy camera.

The Samsung Focus has a large, 4-inch Super AMOLED screen that is absolutely gorgeous. It’s the same screen that can be found on the Galaxy S smartphones and our review concludes by saying, “The hardware is most definitely good enough to get people’s attention and draw Windows Phone newcomers to check out what life with a Microsoft mobile OS is like. So, yes, the AT&T Samsung Focus has what it takes to make WP7 a household name.”

The LG Quantum has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, so those who can’t live without a physical keyboard may want to consider this Windows Phone 7 device. The HD7 has the largest screen of any Windows Phone 7 device, so that may be appealing to you if you’re on T-Mobile.

If I had to choose between the three, I’d go for the Samsung Focus. What about you?
