The popular Apple iPhone app Instagram has been a big hit but Techcrunch is reporting that it has a security flaw: the app saves and transmits your passwords in plain text.
This could be a major issues for the bad guys, considering the Instagram iPhone app also asks for your Facebook and Twitter information. The company has said that the next update will use SSL for this information but you have to wonder why this wasn’t integrated from the beginning, as there have been other high-profile programs with this same issue.
If you don’t know, the Instagram iPhone app is a photo-sharing program which allows you to add filters to your shots and share them with your friends. There were apparently a ton of shutterbugs out there, as there were more than 100,000 downloads in the first six days. That installed based has grown tremendously since that time, too.
If you want more information about the program, you can check out our app page here or you can download it directly from iTunes.
