The Economist is (finally) bringing its content to the iOS device users. Two apps have been launched, The Economist for iPad and The Economist for iPhone, which [the iPhone version] will also work on the iPod Touch. Both apps are available as free downloads and come with a weekly sample of must-read articles chosen by the editor. Those who want a full issue of the magazine can grab it through in-app purchase each week beginning Thursday evenings (9:00pm GMT/4:00pm EST). A single issue costs $5.99.

Of course, if you’re already a subscriber to the digital or print edition of The Economist, you’ll get full and unrestricted access to all the content on your iDevice as well.

The good thing is that the content is stored locally, allowing you to keep reading even while flying for instance. Moreover, each issue also comes with the full audio edition, with all articles read by professional newscasters.

In a nutshell, The Economist made sure iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad owners get the right experience reading the magazine on their beloved gadgets.
