So you wanted a Dell Streak, but you don’t like AT&T and would rather sit around for the next great, giant Android phone before taking that plunge. You’re in luck as the Dell Streak is now available unlocked here in the U.S. It also comes with Android 2.2 right out of the box, so you won’t feel too left behind when you pop your T-Mobile SIM card into this bad boy. With Android 2.2, you’ll have mobile hotspot capabilities, Adobe Flash and multi-touch in nearly every application that would need the gestures.
The unlocked version of the Dell Streak now on sale also packs 32GB of internal memory. It’s a little pricey at $579, but you are getting this thing unlocked without carrier subsidies or contracts. Right now the unlocked version comes only in black, but will presumably come in red and white in the coming weeks and can be ordered now.
If you already own a Dell Streak and you’re a little miffed about the lack of Android 2.2 on your handset, fret not. According to Dell, the update will be available in the U.S. in late December. It sounds like it’s quite some time from now, but time will fly and it’ll be here before you know it.
