The subsidized iPad is poised to take the UK by storm in the upcoming months with Orange, Three, T-Mobile, and possibly Vodafone expected to carry the tablet device. The only remaining holdout is O2 UK, which is reportedly not in talks with Apple to carry the popular tablet device on a contract basis.
While several carriers are signed up for the Apple iPad, Orange UK is the first UK carrier to come forward with its subsidized pricing. The 16GB iPad will be available for £199 ($31USD), the 32GB for £249 ($388USD), and the 64GB version for £349 ($544USD). Each tablet purchase will require a two-year customer agreement and a monthly plan of £27 ($42USD) which offers 1GB of standard data, 1GB of quiet time data (midnight-4PM), and 3GB of BT OpenZone WiFi access. Though pricing is now available, Orange has not yet announced a launch date for this tablet device.
Among the other carriers, merger buddy T-Mobile is expected to follow Orange’s lead with similar pricing on the iPad, while Three is a wild card. The carrier has confirmed on its website that the “magical” tablet will be coming soon but has not announced a launch date nor pricing details. Anyone in the UK interested in the subsidized tablet or do you prefer to go contract-free?
