Marketing signage being distributed to Apple stores confirms a spring 2011 launch for the white iPhone 4. The date appears in the small print at the base of the sign and is one of the first official, unofficial confirmations. Apple missed its fall launch window for the white iPhone 4. In October, the Cupertino company was forced to issue yet another apology and announce another delay. It was during this apology that Apple set the Spring 2011 target date.
Of course, if you don’t want to wait until spring 2011 to get your white iPhone 4, you can buy a white case or grab one of those white iPhone kits. We have heard of at least one kit supplier who has a direct line to Foxconn and is making a handsome living off these parts. Though not authentic, these kits are as close as you can get to a white iPhone 4 at this point in time.
I wonder how many customers will opt to wait and grab an authentic white iPhone 4 this spring. As enticing as the authentic version may be, I would be hard-pressed to buy a new iPhone 4 in the spring when the iPhone 5 may become available in early summer. I would prefer to wait for the white iPhone 5, but that presumes Apple is manufacturing a white version.
Given all the problems Apple has had with the white iPhone 4, it may abandon the pursuit of white devices. If Apple goes that route, you may find yourself in the tight spot of deciding between a white iPhone 4 or a black iPhone 5. Anyone willing to buy last year’s technology just to get your preferred color?
