The Google Nexus S is only a few days old but we’re already hearing word that there might be some problems trying to fulfill demand with the originally-promised specs. In particular, it looks like the Russian version of the Samsung Android superphone will have Super Clear LCD screens instead of Super AMOLED displays.
This likely won’t be a big deal, as a Mobile Review shootout shows that the Super Clear LCD and Super AMOLED displays offer similar performance. Both appear to be excellent, quality displays, although Super Clear LCD screens do appear to consume a tad bit more power.
The Google Nexus S with Super Clear LCD may hit other territories too and this may be another sign that supplies for these superphones may not be as abundant as we would have liked. In 2010, we saw how shortages of AMOLED screens led to popular phones like the Droid Incredible being difficult to obtain. It got so bad that HTC had to dump Samsung in favor of Sony so it could get enough screens.
