Probably one of the most classic first-person shooters of them all, Duke Nukem, is now available for free in the App Store. Yes, free… and yes, both the iPhone (Duke Nukem 3D) and iPad version (Duke Nukem 3D SE) are up for grabs here. Nice.
The game features a TapShoot feature, making it somewhat easier to target and destroy your enemies. There’s a thumb-stick style controller, slider-style controls and more… However, it’s worth noting that from everything I’ve read and tried… the controls leave something to be desired.
Controls aside, Duke Nukem is probably worth a download, if for nothing more than nostalgic reasons. That said, don’t expect to make this a daily play, that is, unless you were addicted to this title when you were younger. But if that was the case, you may opt to boot up the ‘ol 386 intend. I suspect you might find that a tad more enjoyable to play (I’m not exactly giving this a glowing recommendation, am I?)
For more details, simply hit up the iTunes links below. I can’t tell you when this will jump back up to a paid app… so you might as well get it while the gettin’ is good.
