Directed Electronics’ Viper SmartStart — the mobile application that lets users pop the trunk, lock the doors, hit the panic alarm and start their cars remotely — has been updated with SmartPark feature. As you can imagine, this is a handy feature that will pinpoint exactly where you parked your vehicle by noting its location every time you presses the door lock button in the Viper SmartStart app.

As you’re returning to the car, press the “Find My Car” button in the app and retrieve the location along with any additional accompanying photo or note reminder that you may’ve stored. Don’t like the map view – turn to augmented reality mode and let the phone guide you through the camera lens.

In the other Viper SmartStart news, Directed Electronics is organizing the free “10 Day Viper SmartStart iPad Sweepstakes” for the chance to win a free iPad. New users can click on “How To Buy” in the app and enter their e-mail to register while existing users enter the sweepstakes via the “Find a Dealer” button. No purchase is required and you can access the official rules right from within the app, which BTW is available for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android devices.
