Buckle up, Magenta fans, as we have quite a juicy rumor for you today. According to Tmonews, the Motorola Cliq 2 and the Dell Streak 7 may possibly launch on January 19th. Does this mean that both devices will be announced at CES next week? That sure looks to be the case.
Since this is a rumor, the launch date could very well change, and we may not see either device until after CES. Still, the (much?)-anticipated Cliq 2 may finally debut, and Dell’s 2nd Android tablet may land on T-Mobile’s shelves early 2011. We’re certainly hoping that the Cliq 2 will be a high-end device from Motorola, possibly rivaling the Droid 2. As far as the Streak 7 goes, we’re not terribly sure adding a couple of inches to an existing piece of hardware will be enough to throw Dell into the mainstream when it comes to tablets, but having another option on an additional carrier certainly couldn’t hurt.
While T-Mobile could certainly benefit from adding another tablet into its portfolio, I believe that more people will be interested in the Cliq 2. But that’s to say it’s a decent upgrade from its predecessor. If that is the case, we’ll be glad to see Motorola expanding their offerings of high-end devices to another carrier that’s not Verizon. Sure, the Defy and Bravo aren’t necessarily bad phones, but you’d likely never compare the two to a Droid X anytime soon. So hopefully we’ll be seeing a high-end Cliq 2 in our midst very soon.
Unfortunately for the Streak 7, it will undoubtedly be overshadowed by Motorola’s Honeycomb tablet that will likely make an appearance at CES 2o11. Motorola is obviously quite proud of this tablet, and something tells us that Dell’s slightly upgraded tablet won’t be enough to turn heads once Motorola’s tablet waltzes into the room. But maybe the Streak 7 will also pack a punch by shipping with Honeycomb, too? We’ll believe it when we see it. I’d like to see a bigger tablet hit T-Mobile, and we know that Dell has a 10 incher lurking around somewhere, but maybe that will be saved for another time, or another carrier for that matter.
So if the rumor does turn out to be true, which device are you looking forward to seeing more?
