SPB TV comes to Maemo-powered Nokia N900

SPB Software is bringing its SPB TV application to the Maemo platform – i.e. Nokia N900. I’m not sure I understand their decision to launch an app for a device that’s used by very few people in the world, but what do I know. Maybe bits (or large chunks) of the code could be re-used for the MeeGo version once first such devices are launched.

Anyway, expect all of the same bells and whistles SPB TV offers on other platforms, including access to more than 150 channels from over 20 countries, channel preview, picture-in-picture mode, support for low-speed mobile network connections, TV-guide with a list of current and upcoming TV shows and more. The application remains free and ad-supported, showing advertisements only when channels are buffering.

In addition to Maemo, SPB TV is also available on Android, iPhone/iPad, Symbian, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, bada and webOS smartphones as well as on feature phones. Additionally, the company offers the product as a solution for mobile operators.
