The HTC Evo 4G is rumoured to be launching on the 9th. (this Sunday) on Sprint for $149.99 on a two-year contract. As if to back up the rumours, a series of high-quality pictures of the smartphone, along with a full spec sheet, and some proof that it’s coming soon to Walmart has surfaced.
According to the leak, the HTC Evo 4G will have a 3.7-inche screen (noticeably smaller than the original Evo), run Android 2.2 Froyo, have an 8 megapixel camera on the back with LED flash, and though it’s hard to see, there will be a front-facing one for video conferencing too. The Evo 4G will also come with an 8 GB microSD card, with support for up to 32 GB. In terms of dimensions, it’ll weigh 4.6 oz and measure 4.63 x 2.3 x 0.47 inches.
The same high-speed WiMAX connectivity as the original Evo and a solid physical keyboard, plus HTC’s excellent Android customizations will make the Shift a great option for a lot of folks, so long as you’re willing to sacrifice the larger screen. Personally, I’m fine with that since you’ll probably be chewing through a lot of battery life running on WiMAX anyway.
In any case, CES is just around the corner, and we’re more than likely to get some hands-on time with this beaut in the next couple of days, so stick around!
