Mobile accessory maker Griffin Technology has teamed-up with software developer Dijit to launch a device and an accompanying app that turns your smartphone into a Universal Remote Control. Using the so called Beacon you will be able to control your entire entertainment system by tapping and swiping through your device’s screen. For instance, you can change channels, volume, input, program your DVR and lots more.
Working in conjunction with Dijit’s Universal Remote app, Beacon converts Bluetooth signals from your device to the infrared commands your components are expecting. There are no bulky cases or dongles, no messy wires or cables included.
Dijit’s software rocks an intuitive Programming Guide and a constantly updated device database that includes TV sets, set-top boxes, sound systems, media players and more. Additionally, for components not yet included in Dijit’s library, the app also includes an integrated learning feature.
Beacon will be available in May when interested users will be able to grab it for $79.99.
