Costco could offer Motorola Atrix 4G for $150

We know that the Motorola Atrix 4G will be hitting AT&T in late February but we haven’t heard much about the price yet. We’re expecting it to retail for the standard $199 with a new, two-year contract but it appears like Costco will be undercutting AT&T and offering the superphone for $150.

This is according to a leaked inventory sheet from Android Central, which says Costco will offer the device for $149.99. Sure, this could be changed as we get closer to the release date but it seems like smartphone lovers may be able to find a great deal at the big box store.

Introduced at CES 2011, the Motorola Atrix 4G is the company’s first dual-core Android phone and it looks like a powerhouse. It will also have 1 GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a front-facing camera for video chatting, HSPA+ 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen.

The Motorola Atrix 4G is so powerful that it will also have an optional laptop dock that is basically just a large screen and keyboard for the phone. Once you dock the device, you’ll be able to use the Web Top software to view content from your phone on the 11-inch screen or use a full Mozilla Firefox browser to check out what’s happening online.

It’s unclear how popular the laptop dock will be and we’re guessing a lot of it will come down to how good the experience is, but it’s interesting that the Motorola Atrix 4G is powerful enough to truly be seen as a mini-computer.

This may be the first dual-core smartphone that hits the United States but it won’t be the first dual-core Tegra 2 smartphone, as that crown goes to the LG Optimus 2X. We happen to have one of those in our hands right now, so look forward to some impressions on how dual-core processors impact day-to-day usage.
