Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 HD Hits the iPad with 2-Player Mode; FINISH HIM!

NBA Jam wasn’t the only game in EA Mobile’s arsenal to hit the App Store as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 HD has also made its way to the iPad early this morning.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 HD is, for the most part, an iPad version of the iPhone game that came out a couple of weeks ago. There’s an arcade mode, survival, Shao Kahn mode, and local multiplayer through Bluetooth which you can play against another player with either the iPad or iPhone version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. One new addition is a 2-player same device mode which places two sets of controls on the left and right side of the screen for real head-to-head play. This mode alone certainly makes Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 HD worth the price of admission, especially if you want to take on all comers anywhere you go. I know I compared Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with Capcom’s Street Fighter IV in my review, but I feel EA Mobile has one-upped that game now that there’s an iPad version with 2-player same device play. It’s your move now, Capcom.

I was hoping EA Mobile would cut back on the size of the virtual control stick and buttons as I feel they’re taking too much of the iPad’s screen and it also makes it difficult to perform any moves as your thumbs need to perform very large moves in order to input a command. When one of the buttons is nearly at the halfway point of the iPad, then I think that can be considered way too big. Other than that issue, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 HD performs just as well as its iPhone version. If you never got to pick up the iPhone game, then this would be a good time to pick up the HD version.
