Text recognition experts from ABBYY launched version 4.0 of their Business Card Reader app for iPhone. Aside from the “standard” ability to transfer the contact data from business cards to the iPhone address book, the updated version allows users to upload recognized photos of business cards to the new CardHolder archive, making the images searchable (by first and last name, company and photo creation date). Moreover, the contact fields of the scanned business cards are also “clickable” so you can dial a phone number, send an email or activate any link directly from the image with a single touch.

In addition, this release also allows tracking of the communication history of business contacts, while keeping seldom used contact data in a separate location.

Finally, the application now recognizes text in Korean, bringing the total number of supported languages to 20, including both monolingual and multilingual business cards.

ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.0 is available in multiple interface languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian…
