A company called XS2TheWorld launched 360° Video, a mobile app which is said to put the user at the centre of moving video, creating interactive, “immersive worlds” on the iPhone 4 and iPad. Working in a similar way to online 360° images, it places the viewer at the centre of moving footage so they can look around the environment and even interact with elements such as text, images or links.
According to the company, smart brands can use this capability as a mobile marketing tool to highlight the benefits of their offering(s). For instance, a skiing resort can create a 360° skiing video, allowing the viewer to look up, down to the side and behind during a slalom run; A bar or hotel could film a live tour through their property, giving the viewer the opportunity to look around at guests walking through the space, and stop and interact with signs or maps.
XS2TheWorld is cooperating with the video production company Transmission TX and together the two parties plan to bring bring few apps to the AppStore to further demonstrate the technology. By downloading 360° video, you’ll see just how cool this could look like. Me likes it. 😉
