The world’s largest onboard magazine Hemispheres is going beyond 12 million monthly travelers on all United and Continental Airlines to appeal to the fast-growing army of iPad users. And the idea is not just to replicate the same content on Apple’s tablet — rather, Hemispheres is taking advantage of the device’s multimedia capabilities, offering 360 degree images, audio, video, buying links and more.
All of the content one in-flight magazine has is there, including news, travel, technology, fashion, lifestyle as well as in-depth features — a mix of content that supposed to be interesting to jetsetters and armchair travelers alike. Editorial highlights of the digital app include Three Perfect Days, The Hemi Q&A and Whirlwind, some of which you may’ve enjoyed on your Continental or United flights.
Hemispheres iPad app is offered as a free download and the idea is to make money out of advertising. Interested companies/brands have the capability to run multifaceted campaigns that include interactive video and multiple web links that “further enrich the consumer-brand experience.”
