CNN announced it is making its popular news application available globally for free from the Android Market. The app lets Android users tap into the vast amount of news generated daily by CNN. Multimedia-rich, the CNN app includes photos, live video feeds, on-demand video and breaking news stories. Android owners can also browse content generated from CNN’s iReport, the company’s crowd sourced news outlet. Not only for reading, the CNN app also lets you share compelling stories via your favorite social network such as Facebook or Twitter.
The CNN app is available for all Android handsets running Android 2.1 and above. It includes both the US and International version and lets users toggle between the two editions. If you cannot decide whether it’s worth the space and CPU cycles, then you can read the press release on the second page or point your browser to CNN’s website for more information. If you do grab the app from the Android market, let us know in the comments what you think of this offering from CNN.
