Skyfire‘s custom browser for Android is making the big leap to 4.0 today, adding a few more customization options to its Skybar, but the biggest change is that now you have to pay to use their signature pre-buffered video streaming. The feature saves on both data usage and time, which Skyfire claims will offset the premium cost in the first month of usage. Luckily, if you’ve used it at all in the past, nothing will be change; you get to keep your streaming video just like normal without having to pay.
The last big update to Skyfire for iPhone added enhanced Facebook integration, with the ability to quickly view pages your friends are sharing, Like (and share) sites you’re visiting, or launch right into the full Facebook experience through a handy shortcut. The biggest feature (especially for iPhone and iPad owners), is the ability to access Flash videos. For those on a tablet, Skyfire also lets you change your user agent – handy for when you don’t want to be automatically booted to the mobile version of a site and want to see the real thing.
The updated version of Skyfire for Android can be found in the Market, or the iPhone/iPad version in the App Store below.
