Remember Cisco’s enterprise friendly Android tablet, Cius? It’s gearing toward the launch and now we’re hearing AT&T will most likely get to carry it.
The upcoming tablet will sing along the carrier’s HSPA+ network, allowing business users to collaborate and attend video conferences using Cisco’s software. Moreover, the two companies will also team-up to entice app developers to bring business-focused apps to the tablet. Unfortunately we don’t have the specifics at the moment, but could easily imagine a mobile office suite (like QuickOffice or Documents To Go) being optimized for the device. Heck, something like that should come pre-installed with the Cius.
And that’s about all we have at the moment. No specific dates, no pricing information. If I had to guess, I would say Cisco and AT&T will heavily subsidize Cius for large companies willing to get hundreds of units with an accompanying mobile data plan. Presuming RIM has similar plans with its PlayBook tablet, we’ll be watching an interesting fight…
