Barnes & Noble hits 1 million NOOK app downloads

Everyone digs apps these days so we were not surprised when we heard that just one week after Barnes & Noble released an “app enabling” software update for NOOK Color, the ebook reader owners downloaded more than one million apps!

The top five paid NOOK Apps are Angry Birds, Drawing Pad, Solitaire, Aces Jewel Hunt and Astraware Mahjong, while top free apps are Fliq Calendar, Fliq Notes, Pulse, NOOK Word of the Day and Fliq Tasks. Approximately half of the collection is available for $2.99 or less.

Barnes & Noble wowed to continue working with app developers so its NOOK Color customers can expect more apps in the near future. In the past weeks, the company has added such titles as QuickOffice Pro, FriendCaster for Facebook, UrbanDaddy, more games from Concrete Software including Aces Traffic Pack, Aces Cribbage and PBA Bowling 2, FlightView Elite, RepliGo Reader and 3001 Wisdom quotes.

NOOK Color is an ebook reading focused tablet with 7-inch touchscreen. It is available for $249.
