The Facebook-centric HTC ChaCha is now available in the UK through Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U (and most likely some other retailers). The candybar-shaped Android device, which comes with a 2.6-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard underneath, is available with a number of plans from all major carriers. One of the best options gives you the ChaCha free of charge as long as you commit on a two-year 20 GBP per month contract.
If you, however, don’t like carrier contracts, there’s the option to grab the phone SIM free. Phones4U asks 300 GBP for such an arrangement, whereas Carphone Warehouse is 70 GBP cheaper. Not sure why there’s such a difference, but it’s good to know where to go if you want an unlocked phone.
In addition to the mentioned screen and keyboard, the ChaCha also comes with a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 600 MHz processor, 512 MB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS and a memory card slot.
