Nimbuzz announced that it has reached the “amazing milestone” of 50 million registered users, more than half (28 million) of which signed-up for the service since July 2010. In other words, that’s 100,000 new users every day!
The service keeps growing and is now available on more than 5,000 different handsets. Average Nimbuzz user has 203 contacts in his list and all Nimbuzz users talk for 3.7 billion voice minutes per year.
So what’s next for Nimbuzz? In the official “we’ve hit 50 million users” blog post, Nimbuzz says their future plans include improving existing mobile social graph and adding an entertainment layer to the existing proposition. In that sense, they’ll be providing access to social games, virtual goods and local daily deals. The last mentioned sounds like Groupon, though I may be wrong. We’ll see…
