I’m a big fan of augmented reality. Apps like Layar, junaio and Wikitude help users discover new places either at their home town or when they travel. Up until this point none of the AR apps was optimized for Honeycomb tablets (as far as I know, that is). Now Wikitude launched a new version of its Android application that sings along such products as LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.2 and Asus Eee Pad Transformer. Yep – it’s augmented reality on the big screen of your awesome tablet. And while that’s cool, personally I don’t see a practical element in this. It’s not like you’ll be using your tablet in an open space. You could try and I’m sure some of you will, but after some time – I’m sure you’ll see how it’s painful to hold a tablet rather than smartphone.
It’s worth noting that it’s not just a bigger view you’ll see with the latest Wikitude app – the application also rocks a split screen, which enables you to see the Augmented Reality view and the World selection screen at the same time. They had to use that extra space somehow, right?
So what do you say – are willing to “augment” your Honeycomb tablet? Hit the link below if your answer is “yes.” 😉
