Foursquare hits half a million registered businesses

Just recently we saw Foursquare announcing hitting the 10 million users milestone and now they say more than half a million businesses registered for the service.

You probably already know but it’s worth repeating nevertheless. Businesses can offer Specials to their both existing and new customers (Foursquare users), provide useful information (like what times and days are most popular), find out who the most loyal customers are, and get to customize their venue page with Twitter handle and description.

For instance, some of the existing deals (as pointed in Foursquare’s blog post) include various Radisson hotels in England offering Foursquare customers two extra hours of rest before check out, PASC bar in Rhode Island giving away a $5 pitcher to the first ten people each night, McDonald’s giving free summer drinks with a sandwich purchase, and Dubai-based iSTYLE bundling SuperDrive with the MacBook Air purchase…

Interested merchants who want to see how Foursquare can work for them can head over to dedicated page to get started.
