Eldar Murtazin: There’s nothing special about first Nokia Windows Phone device

By now you’ve probably already heard of Eldar Murtazin, who is known to leak information about the upcoming mobile phones way before they are officially unveiled by handset makers. In his latest adventure he managed to get close and personal with Nokia’s first Windows Phone device and he’s not impressed, saying there’s nothing that differentiates the Finnish company’s offering from other smartphones running Microsoft’s mobile platform. Here’s what Eldar said in an interview to Finland’s national broadcasting company – YLE:

It’s the same inside, it’s the same speed, the display is the same. There aren’t any differences. In practice we are getting exactly the same device.

We already know that in practice Nokia didn’t get anything at all. There is no chance of changing the display, they cannot add their own unique services. In practice Nokia’s Windows 7 phone is just Nokia’s own design. And that’s it.

Nokia reacted, saying that Eldar’s comments are “simply speculation and rumors,” also adding that Eldar is said to be a consultant for competing manufacturers and therefore cannot be an impartial analyst.

My two cents – even if the first Nokia phones offer “vanilla” Windows Phone 7 experience, I’ve no doubts the future models will be customized with Nokia’s apps and services…
