Good Technology — which is the provider of secure and managed enterprise mobility for iPhone, iPad, Android and other leading smartphone platforms — is out with its quarterly data report detailing the “changing landscape of IT and mobile enterprise technology.” Unsurprisingly they’ve found that iOS and Android-based devices are more and more used by the enterprise users. However, with all those new Android smartphones released, we were surprised to learn about an additional rise of Apple’s mobile platform. As a matter of fact, according to Good, iOS extended its rally from the first quarter to the second one, increasing its share from just under seventy percent to just under eighty percent of total device activations. What’s more, during Q2 there were more iOS tablet (iPad and iPad 2) activations (27.2%) than the total amount of Android smartphones (24%) activated in the same period!
Some other findings from the report include:
- Among the top 10 industry verticals, financial services continued to see the highest level of iPad activations, accounting for 46% of iPad activations by industry.
- iOS tablets represent over 95% of total tablet activations
- In contrast, Android tablets declined slightly to 3.1% of overall tablet activations for the quarter
- Android smartphones represented nearly 33% of all smartphone (non tablet) activations compared to iPhone’s 66%, despite Android’s overall market share growth
