We’ve seen the Showyou iOS app before and liked how this was like a Flipboard for video, so we’re happy to see the company has just released the 2.0 version with multiple improvements.
The Showyou 2.0 app will work on both the iPhone and the iPad but I find it really comes to life on the Apple tablet as a way to be a strong media consumption tool. It aggregates video links from your Twitter or Facebook friends and presents it in a pretty and fun way.
The 2.0 version adds a much-needed search functionality which will create a grid based on what you want. The London riots are a great example of a topic to find a bunch of compelling videos about. The update also includes customized grids or feeds for publishers, so you can follow your favorite publishers’ videos in a visually-pleasing way.
I’ve been thinking a lot of these content aggregation apps like Flipbord, Editions and Showyou lately and I believe these have the potential to really make tablets into the “magical” devices manufacturers are claiming. I still think there are flaws with each of these apps but the foundation is pretty darn solid.
The Showyou 2.0 iOS app is available now for free and you can download it here (iTunes link).
