Appia (former PocketGear) announced record growth in the second quarter along with information on passing several major milestones. During the period, the Appia-powered application marketplace crossed the 1 million downloads per day threshold, reaching over 40 million downloads in July. In total, Appia has delivered 200 million cumulative downloads in the 38 months since launching, with over 100 million downloads generated in the last four months alone!

And that’s not all, the company also reported success of its pay-per-download program, which resulted in over 2.5 million sponsored downloads in less than 3 months. About 30 developers joined the scheme, including Priceline, Flirtomatic, textPlus and Amazon.

The Appia Marketplace boasts 140,000 applications from more than 32,000 developers across every major operating system, including Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Java, Windows and Symbian, with thousands of Android apps being added every month. During July, mobile phone users from around 200 countries and 3,500 different handsets downloaded applications and games from Appia.
