Thieves steal 2,700 BlackBerry Torch 9810 devices from Mississauga warehouse

Thieves stole some 2,700 BlackBerry Torch 9810 devices from a Mississauga warehouse between August 19th & 20th. The three skids with all those phones, valued at about $1.1 million, contain 900 grey and 1,800 white Torch 9810 units. At the moment, Police has no clue who the thieves are though they have the device ID and PIN numbers and will be on the lookout when the stolen devices are activated. Those found in possession of stolen phones are committing a criminal offence.

Despite that fact, I’m sure we could expect to see a number of Torch listings hitting the likes of eBay, Craigslist and Kijiji, and if the thieves are smart they’ll find a way to export these units to Europe and Asia. Not that I’m giving any advice here, don’t get me wrong. 😉

Anyway, just thought I should warn you to check the seller’s credentials when buying a used BlackBerry Torch these days…
