Flipboard is reportedly looking to expand beyond social media and RSS feeds to include TV shows, movies and eventually ebooks to the mix. According to the company’s CEO Mike McCue, video content may be included at the end of the year. In the meantime, it’s good to hear that the popular personalized magazine will be released for the iPhone and iPod Touch users “in a few weeks.” Then, once the iPhone is cleared, I guess Android users will get their Flipboard fix too, though I’m just speculating.
At the moment, Flipboard has about 3 million users and is now competing with bigger companies like AOL, which recently launched AOL Editions offers pretty similar experience. We at IntoMobile like cheering for the small guy and are looking forward to see Flipboard taking advantage of being the first on the market. Adding more and different kinds of content can certainly help get more people to read the news through an app like Flipboard. We’ll see…
