When it comes to the feature set, junaio is the best augmented reality browser out there. It has been recognizing different kind of objects for more than a year now, while its archrival Layar introduced the capability roughly a month ago. Now metaio (developer of the software) announced version 3.0 of its app, touting it as the application that can “scan the world.”
The reason for such a claim comes from the fact that junaio 3.0 can not only detect various objects, but also handle pictures, barcodes and QR codes to do its magic. The mentioned “magic” part comes from junaio’s channels, databases and/or connected partner platforms which are queried on every scan. For instance, you’ll be able to get information about an artist who painted the image before you, or get relevant consumer information about some product, access 3D user manual and so on.
I love how it sounds and can only hope metaio will be able to get various content providers interested in opening up their databases for the general public access through junaio. In the meantime, we have a demo video to show you. Enjoy!
And before I let you go, you should know that junaio 3.0 is at the moment available for iPhone users only, with the updated Android version most likely to be released soon.
