Remember that BlackBerry Bold 9790 from a few months ago? It’s made another public appearance, with 8 GB of local storage, 5 megapixel camera, 1.2 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC all confirmed. Besides being a smidgen smaller than the 9900, it’s still a bit unclear what is going to really separate these two devices; maybe the touchscreen is lower resolution to reduce the price point, but it looks like it’ll have the same 1230 mAh battery, which is too bad considering the 9900 could barely get through a whole day on one charge.
The rear is closer to the style of the Torch 9850 / 9860, which means there’s added width to fit proper camera auto-focus inside. There aren’t any charging contacts at the bottom by the looks of it, and it’s hard to tell, but the microUSB slot may have been shifted to the bottom. This would be a great way to kick off RIM’s QNX smartphone lineup, but we’ve seen tutorial videos indicating this thing will still be running OS 7.
For now, the 9790 remains a bit of a mystery; what would you like to see it include to set it part from the Bold 9900, or every other classic QWERTY BlackBerry, for that matter?
